Asthma Camp
Dealing with asthma can be especially daunting for kids. That's why Hendrick Medical Center has offered a fun and educational summer camp for almost a decade. At Asthma Camp, camp staff provides encouragement to youth who suffer from asthma symptoms and support for parents who may not know what to expect with the diagnosis.
The camp is designed to improve quality of life, self esteem and exercise endurance while decreasing asthma symptoms, school absenteeism and hospital visits.
Offered each summer during one week in June, the camp is held on the campus of Hardin-Simmons University as is open to children ages 7 to 11 with diagnoses of moderate to severe asthma.
Because of donations made to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, no fee is charged for asthma camp. All campers must complete an application and a medical release. Space is limited in the camp with preference to first-time participants.
Camp Coordinator is Susan McQuade, 325.670.2112 or 325.670.2280.
