Kohl's Kick Asthma Education Program
The Kohl's Kick Asthma Education Program is a year-round asthma awareness and education program. The goal of the program is to promote asthma awareness among children ages 5-17, parents, teachers and school nurses. We teach children and parents how to manage their asthma and keep it under control. The following components are part of the program:
- education programs in area schools
- parent workshops
- teacher workshops
- participation in health fairs held in the community
Each child participating in the school program receives the following:
- One peak flow meter
- A medication spacer device
- Asthma management plan
- Written material with tips for environmental control for the home, trigger and warning sign recognition and understanding your asthma medications
- One equipment backpack
