Title: Current Clinical Approach to Sepsis

At the completion of this presentation, the participant will be able to:
1. Differentiate between systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), sepsis, severe sepsis, and septic shock.
2. Describe key strategies used to facilitate sepsis recognition in the emergency department and on the floor.
3. Discuss the use of screening tools for early recognition and treatment of severe sepsis and septic shock.
4. Recognize appropriate interventions to consider and/or implement in the management of septic shock.
