Hendrick Medical Center receives American Nurses Credentialing Center Pathway to Excellence designation

Posted: 01/23/2014

Hendrick Medical Center was recently awarded the prestigious Pathway to Excellence® designation by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). For an organization to earn the Pathway to Excellence distinction, it must successfully undergo a thorough review process that documents foundational quality initiatives in creating a positive work environment.

“I am very pleased that we have once again been designated as a Pathway to Excellence organization,” said Susie Cassle, assistant vice president at Hendrick Medical Center. “Frontline nurses are the foundation for outstanding patient care and exemplify the Hendrick mission.”

The Pathway to Excellence designation is granted based on the confirmed presence of characteristics known as “The Pathway to Excellence Criteria.” These initiatives must be present in the facility’s practices, policies and culture. Nurses in the organization verify the presence of the criteria in the organization through participation in a completely confidential online survey.

“This recognition is not achieved through documentation alone,” said Cassle. “It was confirmed by survey results from our frontline nurses validating the work environment based on their opinion.”

As a Pathway to Excellence designated organization, Hendrick Medical Center is committed to nurses, to what nurses identify as important to their practice, and to valuing nurses’ contributions in the workplace. This designation confirms to the community that nurses working at Hendrick know their efforts are supported.

Hendrick first received the distinction in 2007. Institutions are eligible to receive designation every three years.
