Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation and Hendrick Women's Health Network have developed a Comprehensive Osteoporosis Program specifically designed to help women through stages of osteoporosis prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
The program includes state-of-the-art bone density measurement technology at Vera West Women's Center, nutrition classes, and a rehabilitation regimen including a physical therapy evaluation and specific exercise program designed by Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation to meet each individual's needs.
It is proven that regular exercise helps to slow the rate of bone loss. Light to moderate physical activity in those with osteoporosis can reduce the risk for falls and fractures, decrease pain and improve fitness. Exercise also helps with muscle tone, weight control, balance and overall quality of life. With effective means of measuring bone mass, attention to a healthy bones diet, and a custom-made rehabilitation regimen, this comprehensive osteoporosis program offers women hope and help for recovery.
