Benefiting Hope Fund at Vera West Women's Center
Breast cancer does not discriminate among age, race or economic status. Since it is treatable when found at an early stage, all women over 40 should have a yearly mammogram to ensure the cancer can be detected at the very earliest stage.
Previous community funding assistance was
available for women age 50 years or older.
The Hope Fund was established in 2001 to
ensure no woman in the Big Country misses
this potentially life-saving procedure regardless
of her ability to pay.
Mammography is the third vital component
for early detection along with self-exams
and yearly clinical breast exam. Vera West
Women’s Center is committed to seeing that
every woman in the community has access to
a mammogram.
The staff at Vera West Women’s Center saw a significant community health need, established the Hope Fund and continues to hold annual fundraisers to assure that no woman in the Big Country be without this potentially life-saving procedure. Thanks to community efforts and donations, the Hope Fund has assisted more than 450 women since its inception in 2001.
If you know of someone who would benefit from the Hope Fund, please contact The Alliance for Women and Children at 677-5321 or Vera West Women’s Center at Hendrick at 670-3950.
