Logan
Rosenquist
At six months old,
Logan Rosenquist, who had been born without complications, was suddenly
completely limp. His parents had seen symptoms of what they thought
was a common ear infection and watched his condition worsen. Logan
was only able to move his eyes; the rest of his body had shut down.
Horrified, his parents took him to his doctor where they began performing
tests to discover what could be causing this sudden onset of his nervous
system’s failure. His parents feared the worst.
After ruling out
several infant diseases, doctors discovered that Logan’s
spinal cord was attached to his tailbone. This caused his spinal cord
to tether as Logan grew. Knowing that action had to be taken quickly,
he was immediately taken to surgery where doctors took on the tedious
and risky task of separating his spinal cord from the bone. Thanks to
the doctors’ expertise and precision Logan has been given the chance
to grow normally.
After his surgery,
Logan would have to begin developing his motor skills. His therapist
at Hendrick
Center for Rehabilitation has been with him
every step of the way. He went from learning to sit up, to crawling,
to using a walker for assistance and now to using crutches all under
the caring supervision of his therapists. Logan is now a vibrant three-year-old.
Nothing can contain him as he tirelessly plays and laughs. He won’t
let anyone do anything for him; he goes where he wants to. When he is
at Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation, Logan doesn’t even know
he is in the midst of therapy. He thinks he is just going to join his
therapist for playtime. Thanks to Children’s Miracle Network, Logan
is learning to walk, using equipment he would not have if it were not
for generous donations made right here in the Texas Midwest.
Logan is just one
of the miracles seen at Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation each year.
By pledging to
support Children’s Miracle Network you
can touch the lives of children all over the Texas Midwest just like
Logan. Funds donated benefit Meek Children’s Hospital, Hendrick
Center for Rehabilitation and other Children’s services throughout
Hendrick.
