Support Groups of Hendrick Health System
Hendrick Hospice Care offers several support groups throughout the year for all ages. Contact Hendrick Hospice Care at 325-677-8516 for more information on specific groups.
- Healing through Hope – grief support group for any individual who has suffered a loss through death; held periodically throughout the year; call for upcoming dates and times
- Rainbows – grief support for children who have experienced a loss through death, divorce, or other painful transition such as military deployment; kindergarten through twelfth grade; adult sessions held simultaneously; call for upcoming dates and times
- Living Is For Today, Abilene – monthly social support luncheons with program following for those who have lost a loved one through death; held every second Monday at noon at Auxiliary Conference Center, 2000 Pine Street, Shelton Building, second floor; call for reservations
- Living Is For Today, Sweetwater – monthly social support luncheons in Sweetwater with program following for those who have lost a loved one through death; held every third Thursday at 12:30PM at TSTC, The Center Meeting Room, 300 College Drive, Sweetwater; call for reservations
- Gone but Not Lost – support group for any bereaved parent who has lost a child of any age; meet every second Thursday evening from 6:30-8PM at the Abilene Garden Club Building, 300 North Westwood Drive; call for information
- Friends of Hospice Supper Club – monthly social support group for any individual who has experienced a loss through death; meet every third Monday evening of the month for a meal and fellowship, 6PM, Luby’s Cafeteria, 4438 South Clack Street; call for information
- Camp Courage – a four day, three night camp for children grieving the loss of a loved one through death, divorce, or other painful transition; open to children ages kindergarten (must have completed) through twelfth grade; call for information regarding the application process
- Coping with Grief during the Holidays – available to any individual who has lost a loved one through death; one time seminar, usually in November; call for more information
MS Support Group at Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation –for those diagnosed with MS and for family members of those with MS; meets the 2nd Saturday of every month; Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation Community Room; for additional information, contact Karen Richards at 325-725-5835
Stroke Support Group at Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation - designed for those who have experienced a stroke or for family members of those who have had a stroke; meets every Wednesday at 2PM, Hendrick Center for Rehabilitation Family Room (2nd floor); for information, contact Cathy Martin at 325-670-6033
Hendrick Diabetes Support Group – meets the 2nd Thursday of every month (except November), 7-8PM, Auxiliary Conference Center, Shelton Building, 2000 Pine, second floor; no charge to attend, and family members and significant others are welcome; call 325-670-2421 for further information
Hendrick Ostomy Support Group – offers a free support program of ostomy management, allowing people adjusting to ostomies or contemplating ostomy surgery to learn from others who have undergone the same experience; professional adviser is board certified WOC (Wound Ostomy Continence) nurse who has experience in teaching new ostomates and helping those with ostomy management issues; WOC nurse distributes monthly support group newsletter to all group members, including those unable to attend monthly meetings; call 325-670-2424 for additional information
