When Seconds Count…

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation is the method of Basic Life Support (BLS). Hendrick Medical Center offers two separate types of CPR Certification. Heartsaver AED CPR is basic life support training for the non-licensed and non-medical professional personnel. Healthcare Provider CPR is a more advanced basic life support course for licensed healthcare professionals and healthcare students. Both of these classes are held in a relaxed teaching environment conducive to student learning and return demonstration of skills. Each class will teach the student the skills needed for Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, as well as, foreign airway obstruction for the conscious and unconscious victim. Hendrick Medical Center is an approved Training Center under the American Heart Association. This allows all certifications to be valid for a 2 year period. Hendrick Medical Center also holds Healthcare Provider CPR recertification classes for healthcare professionals who have not allowed their certifications to expire. Classes are $40.00 for each participant.

Hendrick Medical Center Department of Education and Professional Development works in cooperation with the American Heart Association to provide education and information about prevention of heart disease, stroke and injury, as well as action steps when an emergency arises.

Courses for the non-licensed, layperson are structured in an everyday language and conducted in a non-threatening, positive atmosphere. More advanced life support courses offered to Hendrick Medical Center staff and healthcare professionals include Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Information about becoming a CPR instructor is also available.

Click on the above courses for more information about staff and community CPR and First Aid education opportunities.
