How to become an AHA CPR Instructor
Prerequisites:

  • Candidate must present a current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card dated after July 2001 to ensure receipt of the new guidelines.
  • Candidate must have a willingness and desire to teach in accordance with the scientific and program guidelines of the AHA.
  • Candidate must make a commitment to teach a minimum of 2 courses per year according to AHA guidelines.

Course Requirements:

  • Candidate must attend and successfully complete the two-day didactic/practicum instructor course.
  • Candidate must properly instruct both a basic HeartSaver and Healthcare Provider course within 90 days of instructor course. Candidate will receive instructor certification when this criteria is met.

The cost for this course is free to Hendrick Medical Center employees with manager’s approval; non-employee cost is $135.00. The cost includes all textbooks and instructor tool kits.
