Hendrick honored as a Pathway to Excellence™ hospital for its ideal nursing environment
Hendrick Medical Center achieved the Nurse-Friendly™ designation, now called the Pathway to Excellence™ designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), in 2007. Hendrick is one of only 65 hospitals in the state to receive the designation, which recognizes the essential elements of an ideal nursing practice environment.
The designation is awarded to hospitals that demonstrate characteristics known as “The Pathway to Excellence Criteria” in their practices, policies and procedures. For an organization to earn the distinction, it must undergo a thorough review process. Nurses in the organization verify the presence of the criteria through participation in a completely confidential online survey.
“As a Pathway to Excellence designated hospital, Hendrick is committed to maintaining an environment that values our nurses’ contributions and gives our nurses the resources they need to do their best every day,” Jo Rake, vice president of nursing, said. “For our patients, the designation means we have nurses who are committed to providing the safest and highest quality patient care.”
