Hendrick Medical Center Provides a Tobacco-Free Campus
Effective May 31, 2007
For the safety, health and comfort of our patients, visitors and staff, Hendrick Medical Center provides a tobacco-free environment. Tobacco is prohibited inside all buildings and all outdoor areas of the campus, including the parking lots and sidewalks.
Given everything we know about the dangers of tobacco and second-hand smoke, it is consistent with our mission to prohibit the use of tobacco products anywhere on the Hendrick campus.
We are not anti-tobacco. We respect that our patients, employees and visitors have a right to use tobacco. We just ask them to not use tobacco while here at our hospital. Anyone wishing to use tobacco must leave the campus to do so.
Preparing for Your Visit
Hendrick Medical Center is a campus-wide tobacco-free environment. Prior to your hospital admission, we ask you to discuss nicotine replacement options with your physician. This option will assist you in complying with Hendrick Medical Center’s tobacco-free policy and ensure your comfort during your stay. Assistance also is available to patients who are smokers through nicotine replacement therapy, behavior modification and cessation classes. Your nurse will discuss options with you and answer any questions you may have.
