Childbirth Classes
The staff at Hendrick Medical Center and your physician encourage and support family participation in childbirth education. The series of three classes are aimed to teach you and your coach information about labor and delivery, pain and stress management skills, choices of pain medications, anesthesia and variations of labor, hospital routines and Cesarean births. We believe a good understanding of the birth process is essential to the health and well being of you and your baby. Our birth education classes will provide you and your family with the information necessary to allow you to feel as comfortable as possible as you prepare for the birth of your baby. Our goal is for mother and family to be as prepared as possible for the new arrival.A tour of Labor and Delivery, Nursery and Mothercare is offered during these classes.

One-Day Childbirth Class
The one-day Childbirth class is offered to moms who have had a previous birth.
This class reviews information about the birth process, breathing techniques, pain medications, anesthesia and hospital routines.

Breastfeeding Class
The breastfeeding class is designed for the moms who plan to breastfeed or are considering breastfeeding. Topics covered include the benefits of breastfeeding, positioning techniques, expression of milk and possible common concerns when breastfeeding.

Sibling Tours
Sibling tours help brothers and sisters prepare for the new arrival, as well as reduce the fear of the hospital and ease separation anxiety that may occur while mom is at the hospital. Call (325) 670-4504 to schedule a tour.
