Hendrick Woundcare Center, under the direction of Pulmonary Services, is located in rooms 2101 and 2102 and 2104 and 2105 (second floor, Anderson wing) of Hendrick Medical Center. Each room houses two, mono-place hyperbaric chambers. Rooms 2101 and 2104 are designated for patient evaluation and wound care.
The unit is equipped with monitors specifically modified for patient use during HBO therapy. Specially adapted equipment includes transcutaneous oximeters, EKG monitors, IV infusion pumps, and a ventilator designed for use against greater-than-ambient pressures. Televisions are mounted above each chamber for patient enjoyment during treatments, and an intercom system ensures constant communications between patient and staff. The woundcare rooms are designed to provide multiple modalities such as, HeNe laser, ultrasound, ultraviolet light, and PulsaVac wound lavage. Skilled sharp debridement is provided by physicians and woundcare specialists.
Built in 1991, the hyperbaric medicine unit is equipped with monitors specifically modified for patient use during hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
Hours of operation in the Woundcare Center are 8 AM until 5 PM, Monday through Friday. A qualified technician is on-call 24 hours a day for emergency situations in Hyperbaric medicine. Woundcare is provided after hours on emergency basis.
